How to use a Ring Sizing Gauge

You can purchase a RING SIZER HERE

  • When you get your sizing gauge, you will want to loop it around your knuckle and lock it in place like a zip tie, except that you will be able to open it! (no worries, it doesn’t get locked).
  • Put it over your knuckle and pull it tight until you have a snug fit.
  • Then, push it down on the base of your finger (where the ring goes) and see how it feels. Note the size it registers. There are full sizes, half sizes, and even quarter sizes. Make sure you register the right one! You can also just snap a picture of the numbers on the strip and send it to me at 781-504-5705. I’ll take it from there.
  • When you take it off, rock it over your knuckle so that the size stays in place and doesn’t open.
  • Now that I know I am a size 7, I will try a size 6 ½ to see what feels better. If the gauge opens a little when you take it over your knuckle, it means you might need a tiny larger size.
  • IN GENERAL, a good fit will allow you to slide a ring on fairly easily and take it off with some effort. If you don’t find enough resistance, you can adjust it a quarter of a size down.

SOME CONSIDERATIONS:

  • Make sure you keep the sizer as round as possible. Keep in mind that metal rings are not as flexible as these strips, so it is better to keep it round.
  • The Multisizer Ring Sizing Gauge is 5mm wide. The wider the ring is, the tighter it will fit. So, if you are getting:

A narrower ring shank, you may want to adjust it a quarter to a half size DOWN.

A wider ring shank, you may want to adjust it a quarter to a half size UP.

  • The same logistics will apply if you are planning on wearing several stacking rings on the same finger. Treat the multiple shanks as one wide band.
  • Weather, diet, and even the time of the day, can affect your ring sizing. (Sometimes up to a ½ size). I recommend you to check during several days, and at different times, and then come up with an “average” size.
