Did you know that in ancient times Lapis Lazuli was highly regarded because of its beautiful color and the valuable ultramarine dye derived from it? Its name comes from the Latin lapis, “stone,” and the Persian lazhuward, “blue.”
It is formed by multiple minerals, mostly Lazurite, Sodalite, Calcite and Pyrite, and is a rich medium to royal blue with gold flecks (pyrites). Gotta love those flecks! These lapis have some subtle white veins across that royal blue (see the last pictures).
These earrings belong to the One of a Kind Collection and, as the name suggests, they are unique. Hence, once sold they are not repeated.
Materials: natural Lapis Lazuli, Sterling Silver.
Size: about 1/2" wide by 1 3/4" long (including ear wire).
